Google Shopping campaigns see 122% increase in monthly revenue

UK Toolbox is a family-run business based on the beautiful Channel island of Guernsey.

Supplying both professional tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts, UK Toolbox is a leading supplier of tools in the UK. With approximately 31,000 products from over 270 top brands, they have a huge selection of hand tools, power tools and accessories, workwear, PPE, as well as garden tools and cleaning equipment.

In June 2018 Mark Baudains approached Tillison to help with the performance of his Google Shopping and Search campaigns after a fall in company revenue.

Overall strategy

Our PPC specialists started with a comprehensive review of the current campaign to get an idea of where the business was going wrong and what needed to be fixed in order for them to get back to profitable ways.

From this audit, the main issue was that the Search campaign wasn’t working effectively and although the business was solely online, there was no Google Shopping campaign set up.

With the website being built on a bespoke platform, the team began by speaking to the developers on the best way to get the product feed from the back-end of the site. Once this had been achieved then the products were optimised for searches and the campaign set to live.

After a small period of bedding in, the Google Shopping campaigns started to work well. Initially just a few products were promoted, but over time increasing numbers were added in. Highlights of the campaign were:

  • The search CTR trebled, from 3% to 9%
